(11 September 2008, Hong Kong) New World China Land Limited (“NWCL” or “the Group”, Hong Kong stock code: 917), held a ground breaking ceremony on the morning of 10 September for Anshan New World Garden Phase I, the Group’s first project in Anshan, Liaoning Province. Dr Henry Cheng, Chairman and Managing Director of NWCL; Mr Desmond Lau, Regional Executive of NWCL, Shenyang District; and Senior Officials of Anshan Government including Mr Gu Chunli, Mayor of Anshan and Mr Sun Chunshan, Standing Deputy Mayor of Anshan, officiated the ground breaking ceremony.
In the speech given by Dr Henry Cheng, he thanked the Anshan Government and expressed his full confidence in the potential of the city. He stressed that NWCL and its mother company, New World Development Company Limited (Hong Kong stock code: 17), will continue its development in the property, department store and hotel businesses. Mr Sun Chunshan affirmed the penetrating insights of NWCL on the Anshan market, and its long-term investment strategy. He emphasized that Anshan has become one of the hot spots for investment, and an area where the foreign enterprises would heavily invest on. He hopes that the Group will grasp the opportunities and invest more in the market.
Phase I is located at the south-east section of Anshan New World Garden, and comprised of an site area of around 80,000 sq m. Phase I is composed of nine high-rise towers, making a total of about 1,000 residential units, the accommodation ranges from 90 sq m to 250 sq m. Phase I is expected to be completed by the end of 2010.
Situated at the north of Lincheng Street in Qianshan District High-Tech Industrial Zone in Anshan, the total site area of Anshan New World Garden is of 228,000 sq m. It will be developed into a middle-to-high-end residential community and is expected to become a high living quality neighborhood in the area.
