“UK Now-Architects of Air Miracoco” Exhibition Opens in Wuhan Changqing Garden

(September 27, 2012-Wuhan) The “UK Now-Architects of Air Miracoco” Exhibition jointly hosted by New World China Land Limited (“NWCL”; HK Stock Code: 917) and Cultural And Education Section British Embassy was grandly unveiled at the Central Park adjacent to K11 Art Village in Wuhan Changqing Garden on September 26. David Elliott, art director of British Council China, Mr. Yuan Shanmou, deputy director of Hubei Provincial Department of Housing and Urban and Rural Development, and NWCL Wuhan Company representatives, as well as many media friends attended the opening ceremony, and visited the Miracoco as the first batch of spectators to experience the wonders of modern creative spatial art from UK.

With the commitment to the sustainable development of the cultural community building strategy by New World China Land, Wuhan Changqing Garden has been engaging in various international culture & art events, and committed to creating harmonious community featuring cultural ecology. This time, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of ambassadorial level diplomatic relation between China and UK and the opening of “UK Now” of London Olympics in China, NWCL Wuhan joined hands with Cultural And Education Section British Embassy has introduced “Architects of Air Miracoco” into Mainland China for the first time by holding the 12-day public exhibition from 25 September to 7 October in Wuhan Changqing Garden. Then, many NWCL community owners, NWCL Club members, and Wuhan citizens may visit the experience the fascinating art travel of light space for free. 

“UK Now” was held in this April in China, which was the biggest British art festival and creative industries festival held in China. The brilliant events will run across 17 Chinese cities. The artists participating in the art festival include the most famous artists in all British art fields, and the art forms cover dance, design, movie, literature, music, fashion, drama and visual arts etc. 

“Architects of Air” was the most important culture project of the “UK Now”, which was an air architecture blended with the large structure devices, shadow and color, designed by Architects of Air company founder and artist, Alan Parkinson. Miracoco is one of a series of monumental inflatable structures designed by Architects of Air company founder, Alan Parkinson. He started experimenting with pneumatic sculptures in the 1980s and all are made at the company base in Nottingham (UK) using a plastic produced solely for Architects of Air. The domes rise up to 10 metres high and provide the main focal points, and are key nodes in the whole architecture. 

The designer started experimenting with pneumatic sculptures in the 1980s, using four kinds of color combination to produce the color change. Since 1992, “Architects of Air” series have enchanted more than 2 million audiences at more than 500 exhibitions in 37 countries around the world; from Berlin to Brooklyn, Hong Kong to Hawaii, Taipei to Tel Aviv, and Sao Paulo to Sydney. This is a landmark art exhibition with the worldwide obsession.
