New World China Land won the honor of “Best Corporate Citizen 2009” for 3rd time

(Hong Kong, Dec.9, 2009) New World China Land Limited (“New World China Land” or “the Group”, HK stock code: 917) was again granted the “Best Corporate Citizen 2009” Award at the "China's Best Corporate Citizen Award 2009” of “the 6th China's Best Corporate Citizen Appraisal" organized by 21st Century Business Herald and 21st Century Business Review. It is the only Hong Kong enterprise of the 30 domestic and multinational corporate winners, and also one of the 3 awarded property enterprises. 

The appraisal body spoke highly of the efforts New World China Land had made in persistent, diversified corporate citizenship construction, and the ways of communication between residents and their communities and environment, commenting that New World China Land has, since its entry in mainland in the 1980s, not only thrown itself into large-scale urban redevelopment and comfortable housing project, but also initiated its employees and property owners into charity events; besides, New World China Land has constructed the new Weizhou Water Works, which is one of the first 10 people’s livelihood projects in Weizhou town of Wenchuan County stricken by earthquake in Sichuan Province, and cooperated with United Nation Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in a long-term to support the children education in remote area in mainland China. Various public welfare events have been staged in their corporate behaviors. 

New World China Land, as a real estate enterprise, contributes itself to promoting all kinds of green actions and exploring the way of harmonious co-existence among art, humanities and nature, assigning deeper meaning to “Corporate Citizen”. In 2009, a total of 14 commercial projects of New World China Land successively participated in the events such as “Earth Hour 2009”, which was sponsored by World Wide Fund for Nature, and “Lights Out, Jun. 21, 2009”. In the specific business operations, it promoted the world leading green technology in many places such as Shenyang, Jinan, Guiyang, Guangzhou, etc. It also plans to construct more healthful, ecological living space and vigorously boost the development of low carbon economy. 

The appraisal this time proceeded with the theme of “Learning-based Corporate Citizen”, and lasted for 6 months. The theme emphasized that an authentic Corporate Citizen without labeling shall quickly wake up from the traditional model of shareholder value maximization and turn to the ultimate purpose of creating social welfare as the ultimate target, which should be internalized in the enterprise’s operation and management model. The appraisal was launched in 2004. Since then, it was held once every year, with a view to promoting the concept of corporate citizen and encouraging domestic corporate citizens to perform it and foster favorable social environment of citizens.
