(23 July 2014, Foshan) European Golf Challenge – Foshan Open 2014 Press Conference supported by New World China Land Limited (“NWCL”; Stock Code: 917.HK) was held in the Heart of Guangzhou – Foshan Exhibition Centre at Canton First Estate on 23 July. The Foshan Open 2014 will take place at Foshan Golf Club from 23 to 26 October, it will be the second time for the Club to undertake this international tournament. The Committee also announced that Foshan Open 2014 focuses on children’s charity and makes donation to the School of Foshan Red Cross Hospital. 

Recognised by Chinese Golf Association and the Tournament of European Golf Challenge, European Golf Challenge – Foshan Open 2014 is co-organised by Multi-Ball Games Administrative Center of General Administration of Sports, Chinese Golf Association, Guangdong Golf Association and Foshan Sports Administration. Undertaken by Foshan Golf Club, the tournament is especially supported by NWCL. The total prize of the tournament is US$350,000. There are 126 players altogether to compete in the tournament, among which 60 players are from the Tournament of European Challenge and the other 60 are Chinese native players, while there are six places for sponsors. NWCL attaches great importance in sustainable development and promotion of local culture. The iconic “Canton Cup” of the Foshan Open 2014 is designed by the famous Chinese ceramic master, Mei Wending, so as to pay tribute to the intangible cultural heritage of Foshan. 

A donation ceremony was held in the press conference as well, Foshan Open 2014 and NWCL donated RMB one million to the School of Foshan Red Cross Hospital. The donation will be used to upgrade the rehabilitation programs to enable chronically ill children to take their place back in society and lead a fulfilling life. Geng Shusen, Regional Director – Southern China of NWCL said, “Foshan Open 2014 devotes to children’s charity and aims at offering care to children in need. We hope that the Foshan Open will be able to provide a special experience to those children who are able to come along and enjoy the event.” 
The host of the Tournament, Foshan Golf Club, has a long history and yet it is also the newest club in Foshan. The regional golf club commenced operation in 1997 and NWCL (Southern China) took over the club in 2007. A famous golf course designer, Tony Cashmore, redesigned and made a unique golf course in Southern China which is up to of the world championship standard. Foshan Golf Club attained the authoritative GEO (Golf Environment Organization) Certified™ ecolabel in 2013. Foshan Golf Club has become the second golf club in Mainland China to receive the prestigious international award for sustainable golf club and it is the first golf course which receives the accolade in Southern China.
