(22nd November, 2012 – Beijing) In the “2012 Low-carbon Pioneer Enterprise Voting of the 21st Century China Development Summit” initiated and hosted by the national business media organization –the 21st Century Business Herald together with the Institute for Urban and Environmental Studies Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the New World China Land (“NWCL” or “the Group”; HK Stock Code: 917) was awarded the title of “2011-2012 Low-carbon Pioneer Enterprise” and became the only Hong Kong enterprise among the 15 transnational and local companies with the award.                  


In the eyes of the reviewer, NWCL is established in the real estate industry, and its duty is to promote the R & D and exploration of low-carbon environmental building design, to integrate the low-carbon life idea into its subordinates’ green products, community activities as well as the extensive society. Its two subordinate flagship projects developed and operated in Wuhan – New World Trade Tower and New World Centre, reduced the energy consumption by 20% through the environmental transformation, and got LEED Gold Award Authentication issued by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) in early 2012; in addition, such projects as Guangfo New World and Guanggu New World launched by its two subordinates recently, integrated the R & D achievements of NWCL in low-carbon environment building design, which includes the application of vertical green wall, central ventilation system, clean energy and forest transformation, etc., minimized the influence of the project on environment.                        

NWCL made great efforts to integrate the “sustainable concept” into such three dimensions as products, community and staff. In early 2012, New World Group launched the “sustainable development policy” in the Group and its affiliated companies, to blend the low-carbon environmental protection in the core strategy of the enterprise development and stick to carry out the policy. Under the guidance of this policy, NWCL focused on the development and construction of the green products, and meanwhile, it promoted and implemented such series of environmental measures as waste sorting, farmers market and water conservation in its subordinate communities. What’s more, NWCL will continuously support the public environment project initiated by WWF for a long term and make constant efforts in enterprise’s sustainable development.              

Initiated in 2010, the “Low-carbon Pioneer Enterprise Voting” first advocated establishing “Chief Climate Officer” in enterprise at home and it was an honor activity to praise the worldwide transnational enterprises for their efforts in “the global low-carbon transformation”. This voting aims to learn the achievements of all enterprises in all industries in the sustainable development and seek to explore the feasible measures of the enterprise in low-carbon development, so as to build a benchmark for Mainland China’s enterprises’ low-carbon development and usher in Mainland China’s enterprise in sustainable development.
