(23 March, 2013, Hong Kong) New World China Land Limited (“NWCL” or “the Group”; HK Stock Code: 917), and its nearly 50 real estate projects in 20 cities of China, has fully supported the “Earth Hour” activity held by WWF for the fifth consecutive year. NWCL together with over hundreds millions of people around the world turned off the lights for one hour at 8:30 p.m. at that night to perform the promise of environmental protection by actions, and to manifest that NWCL pays attention to environmental protection and is responsible for sustainable development.      

Apart from turning off the lightning equipments of its subordinate commercial and property buildings, as well as landscape lightning including neon lights for one hour, NWCL actively organized staff members from various regions, hundreds of thousands of owners and tenants to get involved together, and encouraged them to support this activity in their home and office buildings respectively. At that night, the real estates of NWCL that participated in this activity included the famous subsidiary landmarks, such as the Beijing New World Center, Dalian Manhattan Tower, Shanghai Hong Kong New World Tower, Tianjin Xin An New World Plaza, etc., and the large-scale residential property projects, such as Shenyang New World Garden, Chengdu Riverside New World, and Guangzhou Central Park-view, etc. Meanwhile, Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center, Avenue of Stars, Hong Kong K11 Shopping Art Center, etc. that are subordinate to NWCL also vigorously participated in this activity.            

Compared with activities in the former years, the “Earth Hour” this year brought out a brand new theme activity of “Green V Person”; namely, to serve as the “Green V person” by choosing a day of your favorite in one week, and beginning to take action from that day in each week. The content of one week may include: Eating more vegetables in Monday; Reusable bag in Tuesday; No driving in Wednesday; Bringing chopsticks by oneself in Thursday; No leftover in Friday; Love animals, just speaking out in Saturday; Going outdoors in Sunday. NWCL firmly believed that even one simple action also can make contribution to environmental protection. In that night, the low carbon activities were held in multiple cities, such as the concert without power supply and jigsaw puzzle. The volunteer team of NWCL also publicized the “Green V person” environmental protection in street, which encouraged owners and publics mutually to build a brand new green future by the tiny changes in their daily life. 

NWCL has long-term paid attention to the environment and the sustainable development of human society, promoted “sustainable development” to the layer of the enterprise’s development strategy, took the R & D and exploration of architecture design with low carbon and environmental protection, and infused the life concept of low carbon in the subsidiary green products, community activities as well as the more extensive society. NWCL established the Enterprise Sustainable Development Committee in 2012. The effects that the buildings exert to the environment and society are fully considered in projects under construction from the whole process of design, construction and operation. Among them, the subsidiary Wuhan New World Center and Wuhan New World International Trade Tower in central China won the LEED gold award authentication in 2012, and multiple projects are constructed in accordance with the standard of LEED authentication. Except long-term supporting “Earth Hour” activities, NWCL has also successively advocated communities to concern climate changes by series sustainable development activities, and to encourage energy conservation and carbon reduction, which appeal publics to try more low carbon choices in their daily life.  

The “Earth Hour” event is the biggest environmental protection activity throughout the world, which was first initiated by WWF in 2007 in Sydney, Australia. This activity appeals people to turn off the unnecessary lights from 8:30 to 9:30 in the last Saturday night of March in every year, to make a change for environmental protection, and to motivate the surrounding people to join in. At present, this activity has swept all over the world, has become the voluntary environmental protection activity of the largest scale, as well as the most successful environmental protection activity.
