New World China Land donates RMB 1 million for Ya'an, Sichuan earthquake relief

(24 April 2013, Hong Kong) New World China Land Limited (“NWCL”, Hong Kong stock code: 917) is deeply saddened by the death toll caused by the serious earthquake in Lushan county of Ya’an city in Sichuan province on 20 April, and has decided to donate RMB 1 million to UNICEF in China for providing needed resources for the children and women affected by the earthquake. 

In view of the serious damages brought by the earthquake, NWCL takes immediate action to offer assistance on the relief riding on its resources.  NWCL has decided to donate RMB 1 million to UNICEF in China for providing needed resources for the children and women in the earthquake zone.  The fund will be used for maternal and child health, nutrition, personal and environmental hygiene, and child protection. 

Apart from the donation, NWCL will continue to express its care by encouraging its colleagues and community owners in 20 Mainland cities to raise funds and help the victims through different ways.  The corporate volunteer team will also assist in the rescue work and stretch out to help those victims. 

China Earthquake Networks indicated that an earthquake of magnitude 7.0 occurred at 8:02 a.m. on 20 April 2013 in Lushan county of Ya’an city in Sichuan province.  As of 24 April 2:00 a.m., the earthquake claimed 193 lives, with 23 people missing and 12,211 injured, affecting over 1.99 million people.
