New World China Land Launches Farmhouse Rebuild in Sichuan

(9 June 2014, Hong Kong) New World China Land Limited ("NWCL", Stock Code: 917.HK) joined hands with an international non-profit organisation, Habitat for Humanity China, to launch a farmhouse rebuild programme for Sichuan’s impoverished families whose houses were destroyed in the earthquakes. Volunteers took part in the five-day service at Gaohe Town, Qionglai City, Sichuan Province from 4 to 8 June. 

NWCL has collaborated with Habitat for Humanity China for two consecutive years and this is the biggest project jointly launched by Habitat for Humanity China and a property developer. In 2014, NWCL has donated RMB224,000 for 28 farmhouses which were devastated by the earthquake at Gaohe Town, Qionglai City. Apart from donation, NWCL had recruited 25 volunteers from New World Volunteer Team and Love.New World Volunteers Club and 10 students from China Young Leaders Foundation to participate in the voluntary service for five days. 

Gaohe Town, Qionglai City is one of the worst-hit regions in Ya’an earthquake in 2013, and houses in the villages were devastated by the earthquake. This is the second town in Sichuan which receives assistance from NWCL. In 2013, NWCL donated RMB672,000 to Habitat for Humanity China for 40 farmhouses rebuild in Sichuan and Guangzhou.
